Earthquake: Seismic vibrations affecting pole-mounted substations can cause damage to secondary cables and surge arresters installed on transformers.

Indonesia is the second most earthquake-prone country after Chile, as it is located along a highly active seismic zone known as the Pacific Ring of Fire. The country is surrounded by four major tectonic plates associated with Australia, the Pacific Ocean, Asia, and the Indian Ocean. These geological conditions make Indonesia particularly vulnerable to frequent earthquakes.
In addition to earthquakes, outdoor-mounted transformers are frequently exposed to various mechanical forces and vibrations caused by cable loads, strong winds, heavy vehicle movements, and natural disasters. In line with PT Nurinda's vision of prioritizing user safety and operational reliability, the company has developed an innovative solution to address potential problems and disturbances affecting outdoor distribution transformers, particularly those installed in portal-type and pole-mounted substations.
These vibrations can cause secondary cables and surge arresters to move, potentially resulting in damage to the transformer. To overcome this issue, PT Nurinda introduced an innovative product called **DUKATI (Dudukan Kabel dan Dudukan Arrester di Trafo Distribusi)**, a specialized mounting support system for secondary cables and surge arresters on distribution transformers.
DUKATI is installed on top of the transformer without modifying or interfering with its original structure. Its practical and removable design allows for easy installation, removal, and adjustment according to the requirements of each transformer, providing flexibility while enhancing equipment protection and operational safety.
Earthquake in East Java
In late January 2022, East Java was struck by a magnitude 5.2 earthquake, with Malang among the affected areas. Prior to the earthquake, PLN Malang had already implemented DUKATI products in its electrical distribution infrastructure in early 2022.
According to PT Nurinda, the DUKATI units installed in Malang demonstrated their effectiveness in protecting distribution transformers against earthquake-induced vibrations. The mounting system helped prevent damage to secondary cables and surge arresters, contributing to the protection of transformers and maintaining the reliability of the electrical distribution network during the seismic event.
